First Malt Shipment has Arrived!

We’re excited to brew with this awesome malt from Two Track Malting. If all goes well we should be brewing within a couple of weeks with a soft opening at the end of June. Two Track Malting
Brewery Update 19 Jan 2022
Construction is moving along nicely! Supply chain issues are slowing us down a bit but we think we will be ready for a late June 2022 opening. Keep your fingers crossed!

Brewhouse has arrived!
Our awesome new brewhouse from Craft Kettle (a NOLA company) is in town and ready to move to our space at 2606 St Louis in early 2022. Can’t wait to brew on this baby!

What is a Skeeta Hawk???
“Skeeta Hawk” is a shortened New Orleans “yat” version of “Skeeter Hawk” or “Mosquito Hawk” which can be heard in different parts of the South. As the name implies, dragonflies eat a whole lotta mosquitos!
We chose Skeeta Hawk as the name of our brewery because it helps highlight an often-overlooked aspect of New Orleans culture, namely it’s unique accent. Our accent is similar to what you often hear in New York City (i.e. drop the r) and is very different than the genteel southern accent incorrectly ascribed to people from New Orleans on popular media. Likewise, we feel that Skeeta Hawks are great representatives of our swampy, water-laden environment and are just plain cool. Did we mention that they eat a lot of mosquitos?!?
Logo
Check out our logo! Our Art Nouveau inspired design aims to capture the spirit of New Orleans via the strong, confident female figure while also evoking our natural environment as represented by the Skeeta Hawk (dragonfly) body. For fun, we threw in a few beer ingredients and of course the fleur de lis!
